Bridging the STEM Gap: A New Initiative by KCS Foundation and Whiteboard Schools
A new initiative has been launched by KCS Foundation and Whiteboard Schools to provide Science and Maths Lab access to the students from government school in after-school hours. The initiative is in partnership with Vidya Vatika Public School, a private school that has well-equipped labs and qualified teachers. The aim of the initiative is to stimulate the interest of the students from underprivileged backgrounds in STEM subjects and bridge the educational gap created by socio-economic inequality.
The initiative will benefit around 1000 students from grades 6 to 10 who attend the nearby government school. They will be able to use the labs of Vidya Vatika Public School for two hours every weekday, under the guidance of the lab instructors and volunteers from Whiteboard Schools. They will also receive supplementary learning materials and mentoring from the KCS Foundation.
The initiative is based on the belief that hands-on learning and experimentation can foster curiosity and creativity among the students and enhance their conceptual understanding of Science and Maths. It also hopes to inspire them to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields, which are often inaccessible to them due to lack of resources and opportunities.
The initiative was inaugurated on March 4, 2023 by Mr. Brajesh Kumar, SDM Rosera, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Jha, the founder of KCS Foundation, Md. Hussain, the founder of Whiteboard Schools initiative, and Mr. Chandan Kumar, the principal of Vidya Vatika Public School. They expressed their enthusiasm and optimism about the initiative and its impact on the students. They also thanked each other for their collaboration and support.
The students who participated in the first session of the lab access were excited and eager to explore the various experiments and activities. They expressed their gratitude to the organizers and said that they learned a lot from the session. They also said that they looked forward to attending more sessions in the future.
