Vidya Vatika Public School, a leading educational institution in the city, organized a workshop on health and well being of young kids on July 14, 2023. The workshop was attended by more than 200 students, parents, teachers and experts from various fields related to child development, nutrition, mental health and physical fitness.
The workshop aimed to provide practical and scientific information on how to promote the health and well being of young kids in the current scenario of pandemic, stress, pollution and lifestyle changes. The workshop also focused on how to prevent and deal with common health issues such as obesity, diabetes, allergies, asthma, anxiety and depression among young kids.
The workshop was divided into four sessions, each covering a different aspect of health and well being. The first session was on nutrition and diet, where a renowned dietician explained the importance of balanced and nutritious food for young kids. She also gave tips on how to plan healthy meals and snacks, avoid junk food and sugar, and encourage kids to eat more fruits and vegetables.
The second session was on physical fitness, where a certified fitness trainer demonstrated various exercises and games that can help young kids stay fit and active. He also emphasized the benefits of regular physical activity for improving immunity, mood, concentration and self-esteem. He also advised parents to limit screen time and encourage outdoor play for their kids.
The third session was on mental health, where a licensed psychologist discussed the common psychological problems faced by young kids such as stress, anxiety, depression, low self-confidence and peer pressure. She also shared some strategies on how to cope with these problems and enhance emotional well being. She also urged parents to be supportive, empathetic and communicative with their kids and seek professional help if needed.
The fourth session was on child development, where an experienced educator explained the various stages of cognitive, social and emotional development of young kids. She also highlighted the role of parents and teachers in fostering a positive and stimulating environment for learning and growth. She also suggested some activities and resources that can help kids develop their creativity, curiosity and critical thinking skills.
The workshop concluded with a Q&A session where the participants interacted with the experts and clarified their doubts and queries. The workshop received positive feedback from the participants who appreciated the initiative taken by Vidya Vatika Public School to increase awareness about health and well being of young kids.
